Pre-Service Teaching

                               Teach Rural

Welcome to Teach Rural - this section of our website aims to provide information and support to  pre-service teachers wishing to engage in a practicum beyond the range, and to rural communities who wish to attract them.

We envisage that in the near future this page will provide information and links to departmental teaching initiatives as well as branch offers of support to prac students.

Beyond the Range - Professional Experience Grants

The Beyond the Range - Professional Experience Grants support high-achieving pre-service teachers to undertake a professional experience in a rural or remote Queensland state school.

Grants of up to $2,000 are available to enable pre-service teachers to broaden their skills, professional teaching experience and employment opportunities in eligible rural or remote Queensland locations.

Applications for the 2016 Beyond the Range - Professional Experience Grants are now open.

Rural and Remote Education Access Program (RREAP)

The Rural and Remote Education Access Program (RREAP) helps schools and school communities improve the educational outcomes and opportunities of students who are disadvantaged because of their geographical isolation so that students' learning outcomes match those of other students.

Queensland College of Teachers

The Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registers teachers for Queensland schools and accredits the state’s preservice teacher education programs.

We value quality teaching and child safety. We work with the teaching profession and other key stakeholders to help ensure education in Queensland schools is provided by teachers who meet Australian professional standards and are ethical in their dealings with students.
